Project Amadeus

Amadeus Data Systems was about start the transition from their mainframe-based monolith to a microservice-based, kubernetes-backed infrastructure.

The whole project team was 80+ people, distributed all over the world. I was on a peripheral team managing basic infrastructure, mainly in Erding, Bavaria. The task was to develop a scalable and maintainable software-defined configuration management for the underlying infrastructure. I was brought in as Puppet expert.

Unfortunately the whole project setup was not quite ready, which lead me to write mostly shell scripts and not do Puppet. This is the reason I left after 6 months, mainly triggered by the location of the project which was just too far for someting I couldn’t use my skills.
